fall 2021

As we emerge into fall, we’re putting on our layers (and more layers) of wool and finding ourselves using the word “cozy” a lot in our copy. From our first sample sale in two years to growing our team by a few more people, we’re feeling strong going into the holiday season—easily our busiest season of the year. This newsletter is a place for us to reflect, share, and connect. Thanks to all of our fellow wool& customers who helped shape yet another successful season.

Sample Sale

The last sample sale we had was in fall 2019, pre-pandemic. Since then, we collected a lot of product deemed as defective, but still was first or second quality. This included lightly worn or washed items, sewing errors, discontinued colors or styles, sizing disparities, etc. We decided it was prime time to host a sale. We held a two-day sample sale event at our HQ in Portland. We sold both wool& and Wool&Prince items up to 75% off.

The sale was a big success. When we opened at 11 am the first day we had no idea how many people to expect. We looked outside to find at least 15 people in line! One group of ladies in particular drove nine hours to attend the sale. We were blown away by the turnout and enthusiasm by our customers. It felt so good to be immersed in the wool& and W&P community in person for the first time in years. We saw some familiar faces from our old showroom, and lots of new faces as well. Thanks to everyone who came out.

We hosted our first online mystery sale in October, with those who couldn’t attend the sample sale in mind. It was a hit! We plan on holding more mystery sales in 2022.

A Visit from CX Manager Rebecca

Most of you know Rebecca from our customer experience help desk and Facebook Group. She’s quite the celebrity. For the week of the sale, Rebecca visited us in Portland with her Italian exchange student. We had a blast working the sale with her and sharing a couple meals together. Laughter was always involved. Thanks Rebecca for all that you do!

Our Slow Fashion Statement

Compared to some of the big fashion retailers, we have a unique model for our slow fashion approach. It may be different than what you’re used to when shopping on other e-commerce sites.

We wanted to break down the “why” behind our launch process, in an effort to demystify any confusion behind why we do things the way we do.

Read our Launch Process here.

Our Black Friday Cyber Monday Plan

For the last couple of years we’ve donated 10% of each purchase to an organization of our choosing during Black Friday / Cyber Monday. Two years ago we donated to Girls on the Run, and last year we donated to Girls Who Code. We’re planning a unique donation this year and will let you know what we’re doing soon!

Milestones

2,000+ participants have finished the 100 day challenge. 8.4K members on our Facebook Group. 16.4k followers on Instagram. Thank you!

Meet our New Team Member

Meet one of our many new team members, Maryssa. She works alongside Ellie (Designer) and Helena (Technical Designer) on all things development, fit, and production. She helps maintain our quality standards, problem solves, and keeps everything organized from start to finish. We asked her a couple of questions:

What’s your position at wool&? I’m the Associate Product Developer. I work alongside Ellie and Helena on the development, fit, and production of every style.

What’s your background?
I’ve been working in women and children’s apparel for the last few years and previously worked in costumes on TV/Film productions. My passion is really about making beautiful clothing—ensuring attention is paid to the fine details and producing quality products for all shapes and sizes.

What are you most excited about at wool&?
I am most excited to come work for a brand whose values and goals aligned with my own personal mission to be more sustainable. Wool is such an incredible, sustainable fiber and I’m excited to be a part of this team that is working towards making it more accessible for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks for reading! We’re wishing you all a beautiful fall season.

Sincerely,

—the wool& team
